Our county is turning 200 years old. It’s time to celebrate.
From March to November 2013, an ever-growing calendar of events will help us explore our county’s communities, historic sites, mountains, valley and streams as we learn of the places and hear the stories of our history. Tours, events, music and performances will highlight the celebration. Check the Events page for what is coming up – and keep checking back as new events are added!
You can explore our history, see photos of the past – and add new photos of your own. The official UC200 PASSPORT opens doors for you to experience Union County as never before. Print out your own PASSPORT or pick one up at one of the many locations featured in our Bicentennial celebration.
And, perhaps our Bicentennial is finally the time, once and for all, to resolve the long-lingering public controversy: “Did the fabled buffalo (aka bison) actually roam our bucolic valleys?” Mark your calendar for October 23th, 2013 when the “Great Bison Debate” may help us decide if there should be a place of honor reserved for bison pennsyvaniacus.
2013 is our BICENTENNIAL – or should that be BISON-TENNIAL.
